Why I Started Belle Fonceur

People often ask me what inspired me to start Belle Fonceur, and the answer is simple—I genuinely love candles and fragrance.

I've always enjoyed walking into a home that smells fresh, clean, and inviting. To me, scent has the power to transform a space and even change your mood. That's something I've always valued in my own home.

Before starting Belle Fonceur, I worked part-time for nearly nine years at a well-known candle company. During that time, I learned a lot and grew an even greater appreciation for quality home fragrance products.

When the COVID-19 pandemic changed the world, my full-time job transitioned to remote work. While there were many challenges during that time, working from home gave me the opportunity to spend more time learning something I'd always been interested in—making candles.

I started researching everything I could about candle making. I tested different waxes, experimented with fragrances I personally loved, and created countless sample candles. Before launching Belle Fonceur, I asked friends and family to test my products and give honest feedback. I wanted to know what they loved, what could be improved, and whether each fragrance created the experience I envisioned. I believed in getting it right before sharing it with the world.

Today, Belle Fonceur is proudly a Black-owned, woman-owned small business, and I'm still very much a one-woman operation. Every candle, wax melt, aroma mist, and gentle foaming hand soap represents my passion for quality, creativity, and helping others create spaces they enjoy coming home to.

But this is only the beginning.

My dream has always been much bigger than selling candles online. I envision Belle Fonceur growing into beautiful brick-and-mortar stores, expanding into multiple locations, franchising across the country, and eventually becoming an international brand. Dreams start with one step, and I'm committed to taking those steps every single day until Belle Fonceur becomes a household name.
